Sherry Trafford will lead a discussion of the recent Virginai federal court decision in Rogers v. Virginia State Registrar, the decision that struck down Jim Crow er laws designed to prevent interracial marriage. The decision highlights the origin pf the law and gin the law perpetuated the notion that there is a legitimate reason for the state to require people to identify by race when seeking to get married, even after the Supreme Court decision in Loving made it ilegal for the stare to prohibit interracial marriage.
