Memorial to the Lost: Heeding God’s Call to End Gun Violence

To increase public awareness of the tragic toll exacted by gun violence, Heeding God’s Call to End Gun Violence Greater Washington installs its “Memorial to the Lost” at various faith communities in DC throughout the year.

The Memorial is comprised of stands and t-shirts; one t-shirt represents a victim of gun violence during the specified year and is personalized with the name of the victim, the age of the victim, and the day of passing of that victim.

There were 203 victims killed by gun violence in the Greater Washington area in 2016. Among the 203 t-shirts, yellow shirts represent victims in Virginia, blue represents Maryland, and white represents DC.

Western will be hosting the memorial from Sunday, April 23 – Sunday, May 7.
