Session met on Tuesday, June 13. Here are the highlights:
- John Molina-Moore filled us in on the first week and a half in his ministry at Western. He’s eager to meet members and learn what we feel God calling Western to be. You can set up a time to talk with John by emailing him at John@westernpresbyterian.org.
- Session started talking about priorities for the 2017-18 program year. Some of the topics that came up: holding a Confirmation class and strengthening our youth program, increasing attendance and energy in worship, moving forward with mission and anti-racism work, building community life both within and around Western, and focusing on intentional, spiritual development.
- The success of Western’s spring stewardship drive was inspiring, evidence of the energy and excitement building in the congregation. Moving forward, the Session is committed to thinking about budgeting and stewardship in a way that reflects Western’s mission and ministry. The stewardship task force has developed a framework, and we’re now looking for people to lead the effort forward. If you feel called to the important work of inspiring a culture of giving at Western, please let Nicole Wallace or Laura know.
