Vigil for the Homeless

Vigil for the Homeless

Candlelight procession – Tuesday, Dec. 20, 5pm at Luther Place Church (1226 Vermont Ave NW)

Homeless Memorial Service – Wednesday, Dec. 21, 11 am at New York Ave Presbyterian Church (1313 New York Ave NW)

Each year, the People for Fairness Coalition organizes a vigil to remember all those who lost their lives throughout the year while experiencing homelessness. First, people will gather at 5pm at Luther Place Church (1226 Vermont Ave NW) on Tuesday, Dec 20, and participate in the candlelight procession to Freedom Plaza. After the evening program and dinner, folks are encouraged to spend the night on Freedom Plaza to experience what it’s like to spend the night on the streets in the cold. In the morning, the group will march to New York Ave Presbyterian Church (1313 New York Ave NW) for the Homeless Memorial Service at 11am followed by lunch. Take some time out of this busy season to remember those who have been forgotten.
